A death doula, also known as an end-of-life doula, is a non-medical professional who provides support to individuals and families before and during the dying process.  They offer emotional, physical, spiritual, and practical assistance, helping to navigate the complexities of illness and death. Death doulas are not licensed medical professionals, but they can work in conjunction with healthcare providers, offering a holistic and compassionate approach to end-of-life care. 

The Me Beside You service offers a variety of options for every stage of death.  As an end of life doula, my mission is to provide you with the knowledge and tools to advocate for yourself and helping to facilitate the most meaningful and peaceful end.

A.  Comfort Care Consultant
A care consultant, provides expert guidance and support to help you in your healthcare and living needs. They help navigate complex systems, access resources, and make informed decisions about care options.

You might be facing an unexpected illness, mobility concerns, upcoming surgery, change in your cognitive function or any matter that relates to your wellness.  There are many decisions to make as they relate to living in a safe and happy environment.

Let's work together to put a living well plan in place.  You likely have many questions and need assistance sourcing the information.  You need an advocate to help you find the best path. And most importantly, all the things you do not know.  You may be alone or family is not able to be onsite to assist.  That's ok, we are here to fill that role.

B. My Dying Wishes Plan
How do you want to leave this world?  How often do you talk about creating a document that would detail your last wishes?  How prepared are you for death?

What are last wishes?
Let's make it happen.  There is plenty to consider for your remaining months, days, hours and moments.  Our family and friends are not mind readers to how you may wish to spend this time.  Having a comprehensive document  with easy execution will be a godsend to those caring for you.  Take out the guesswork.  Remember, there does come a point where you can no longer advocate for what you want.  You need to be mindful of how you want to leave this world.  There is much to consider.
I will work with you closely on a comprehensive and well planned document.  This deep dive will include with you on your unfinished business, legacy work and making sure your last moments are filled with your favourite things.

C.   Critical Care Death Doula
There is an immediate need to have a death doula alongside your last days.  
A critical care doula provides non-medical emotional, practical and spiritual support in a hospital, hospice or home setting.  Together we can explore the best options that bring you comfort and joy on this path
Family members require support, both physically and emotionally.

D.  Tele Doula
A tele death doula, also known as an end-of-life doula, is a professional who provides support and guidance to individuals and families during the dying process, often using telehealth platforms like facetime, zoom or the phone.  They offer emotional, practical, and spiritual support, helping individuals navigate the complexities of death and dying.

E.  Swedish Death Cleaning
